Linkshell Guidelines

**About Fail**

The Fail linkshell is a endgame linkshell currently participating in several different end-game events including, Abyssea, Dynamis, Limbus, Sea, Walk of Echoes Sky, etc.The purpose of this linkshell is to put gear on our members, including relic weapons and to have a good time while doing it.

New Members

All new members are subject to a 2 week trial period. Do not expect to be allowed to lot on anything during this period of time. This is for the linkshell to figure out if you are a good fit, and for you to determine if you want to be a part of the shell.

Attendance:

As a small linkshell having all of our members at each of our events is the most important thing, without people there are no events. Our current planned event schedule is as follows (all times are EST)
Attendance:

Sunday 7:00pm Dynamis
Monday 9:00pm Limbus
Wednesday 7:00pm Dynamis
Thursday 7:00pm Abyssea
Saturday 7:00pm Sea

All members are expected to attend all of the above events in full. In addition to those events there is one unscheduled event night per week.

Friday 7:00pm Random Event Night

To remain an active LS members and to be able to lot on gear you need to maintain a 80% attendance. We will be calculating attendance every 2 weeks to determine LS and gear lotting eligibility.

If you are logged in during an event and not present your miss will be counted as a double miss.
If you arrive more then 30 minutes late to an event you will not receive attendance credit to the event. If a member is repeatedly late to an event they will be given warning and eventually removed from the linkshell. See Missing events for more details

A note regarding planned events

Just because we have the above events scheduled does not necessarily mean that we are locked in stone on doing an event on a specific day. If we do not have an adequate group to participate in event we may change what we are doing so as not to waste everyone’s time this includes dynamis.

Missing Events

We understand that real life gets in the way and there are times that you will be unable to make events. In the past we have asked members to send a tell to a leader to let them know they won’t be at an event. Unfortunately this policy did not work out to well as people dc, messages get lost, and it becomes a mess of he said she said. Each month there will be a post in the website forum for people missing events, if you are missing an event you are expected to post in that thread. Failure to do so will count as a double miss as far as attendance is concerned. If you cannot post a message yourself you should contact another ls member and have them post for you. If you are going to be late and know and post it there will be no penalty.

Linkshell Leaders

In additional to Fragglebob and Janesnow, there are several other pearl holders in the linkshell, Azucares, Habiki, Littlebit, Lutschfactor, Zuzeeque, Tadolado These members have been chosen as leaders for several reasons including their ability to play the jobs they have levelled, and their dedication to the linkshell. If a leader tells you to do something do it, they are not picking on you, they are acting in the best interest of the linkshell and trying to ensure that we are successful in what we do.

We have assigned specific leaders who will be responsible for certain job types
Mage Leader - Zuzeeque
Mele Leaders - Habiki/Azucares

In order for us to be successful in the newer content with our numbers we are going to need to focus during events a lot more, as we have learned from past events even something as simple as changing a macro can be the difference between success and failure. These leaders will be watching other ls members and helping them improve.

We are asking our leaders to give members advice, which may mean calling them out during an event if someone is doing something wrong. The purpose of this is to improve our game play. If you are not comfortable taking criticism, or not willing to listen to what other’s have to say to improve your game play then this is no longer the linkshell for you. We ask the members refrain from commenting on other members gameplay during an event. If you see a member doing something inappropiate please let one of the above leaders know and they will deal with it.

Members Jobs

While many members of the shell have several jobs level and wish to come to events on a variety of jobs the reality is that for us to be successful we need to use a specific job setup. We will no longer tolerate people complaining about the job they are asked to come on or complaining about always coming on the same job. If you have a job leveled that you DO NOT wish to play, please let the ls leadership know immediately and we will decide a course of action. Members were selected to join this linkshell because they had a certain job composition if you no longer want to play one of those jobs that is fine, but we will need to consider if you are still needed in the linkshell.

For jobs that are levelled for use at ls events we expect:

1. A buffer - with abyssea there is no reason to delevel at an event.
2. Appropriate Gear
3. Merits - again with abyssea there is no reason to not have the appropriate merits for the jobs you use in linkshell events
4. Meds - that means echo’s etc for mages, food

Distribution of Loot

As FFXI is evolving with new a new style of events it is also time for our linkshell to adopt new policies regarding the lotting of gear. The Fail linkshell will be doing away with its points based system. While this system worked well for events where gear drops for multiple jobs, events like abyssea, and walk of echoes do not lends itself to a points styled lotting system.

While each event may have specific lotting rules these are the general guidelines for who will be allowed to lot gear.

Attendance Requirement

Every 2 weeks the LS will evaluate member attendance from the previous 2 weeks. Members with 80% or higher attendance will be give primary lot consideration on items dropping. Members with lower then 80% attendance will only be allowed to lot if other members wish lists have been exhausted.
**_Please note this is a general guideline and there may be times when a members who’s attendance is below 80% is allowed to lot an item over someone with a higher attendance._**

Additional Consideration

While attendance is the major factor in deciding who can lot on items there are several additional factors that will be considered

- Lifetime Attendance in the LS - (While we are looking at lotting on a 2 week period many of us have been members for 2+years and those members with exceptional attendance deserve to be rewarded.)

- Usefulness of item dropping

- Jobs members use for linkshell events - many of us have several jobs levelled, and want to gear them all, but gear will be going to members who use jobs at events first, it does not benefit the linkshell to have great BLM gear on someone who come as SAM to 90% of events before someone who is on BLM for most of the events.

Lotting Process

When items drop a linkshell leader will tell the alliance who is allowed to lot, this may be a single person, or a group of people depending on the above factors. In many cases we will know before the event who will be allowed to lot specific items. The LS bank will be lotting many items in abyssea, quest items will either be lotted on by the bank and distributed after the run, or by the members actively on a quest. If your are not sure if you should be lotting ask before you lot. JOKE LOTTING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED .

Complaints About Who Got What

I’ll be honest, we are a bit hesitant to use a system like this for gear lotting because we know that there are always going to be people who are not happy about who was allowed to lot and despite what the leaders say people are going to believe that they should have been allowed to lot over someone else.
Please take this into consideration: many of us have been doing LS events for the past year not wanting a single piece of gear, for most of us we do this stuff together because we want to have a good time, and get geared up at the same time. If you are going to start a whole lot of drama over a piece of gear then this is probably not the linkshell for you. Anyone who has been in this shell knows that we are committed to getting our members all of the gear that they want, but we do not control drop rates, and there are times when we have to put a hold on something and come back to it a couple months later.

Members who Dualbox

Several members in the LS run two characters at our events, in fact at a recent event half of the attending members were controlled by 3 people. In the past these second characters have had no lotting rights aside from “free items”. When the leaders are selecting members to lot these secondary character’s will also be included the fact is they are present at almost every event while many of our members are not. Members who have 2 active characters in the ls should create wish lists for those characters as well.

Members Wishlist

All members will be required to maintain a personal wishlist. (Location will be decided) If there is an item you want from an event that we are currently doing then it is your responsibility to add it to your list, if it is not on your list don’t expect to be able to lot. Lists will also be kept in priority order, this in no way means that you are entitled to an item, we just want to know what items are important to which people. Gear will still be distributed in a manner that benefits the linkshell as a whole not the individual.

Linkshell Payout

As we venture into more events with money items dropping, we are given more opportunities to reward all of the linkshell members for their efforts and to help offset the money that members are spending for items for events (reraise, food, etc) However it has also come to our attention that members are not holding up to their end of the deal and coming prepared with item to events or when they run out of payout money they stop buying meds until the next payout. Payout is not meant to be a free ride it is meant to supplement personal income.

Linkshell payout will no longer be from dynamis only, we will be collecting sellable items from abyseea and adding them to the payout as well. In addition we will begin selling items that shell members no longer need to bring in additional income.

If you come unprepared to more then 2 events during a payout period your payout will be reduced.

If you fall below the attendace requirement for 2 evaluation periods during a payout your payout will be reduced.

Payout will also be partially based on attendance, members who do not attend every event will receive less money then members who attend every event.

General Event Behavior

Ventrillo access - We ask the every member have access to and login to ventrillo during events. In order to succeed at events we need to be able to communicate effectively.

Reraise - Every member is expected to have reraise for every event and enough of it to last for the event. The only time you should be without RR is if you just got up after dying and died again before you could get it back up. If you plan to come to an event without rr don’t bother showing up, you will be asked to leave. In addition if you do not have an item you will be getting a raise 1, if you don't want to loose less xp then make sure you have the appropiate item.

Tells to leaders during events - Everyone should be focused on the events while they are occurring, unless there is an emergency situation please refrain from sending tells to a leader during events, they are focused on the event at hand you should be as well.

Issues with other Members- Lets face it there are bound to be issues between members that need to be dealt with, however it is inappropriate to distract any member from an event. If you have an issue with another members please ask them to leave you alone for the rest of the event and you can talk about it afterward. After the event please /tell a leader that way the issue can be resolved. nothing will be gained by fighting with other members during an event.

A final Note

We put a great deal of time into planning our events and we have worked out a plan that we feel benefits the entire linkshell as a whole. If you have any questions regarding why we are doing something, if we have not explained it before hand, please wait until after the event and we will be happy to explain why we did what we did, there are many factors that go into choosing an event, and even though we may have had 1 thing initially planned shit happens, and we often have to modify our plan just as an event is starting, which usually means people changing jobs, and a whole lot of stuff changing, please just go with the flow, and we will explain after the event what went on.
